How to Wean a Baby

When you are a parent, it can be difficult to know when to show foods to your baby whom is still getting milk from a bottle. We believe one of the most important, yet difficult decisions you will be making for your baby is when to wean the baby from the bottle. This is because generally the child is not yet ready for this type of change and will try to hold on to that bottle with every fiber of their being.

How to Wean a Baby

Many experts say you should be able to wean your child when they are able to sit up on their own, have consistent meals and snack times and also feed them with a spoon. When this time comes, your child will need more nourishment than the bottle is able to give.
Keep in mind that the longer your child is using the bottle, the more likely the child will be to get tooth decay and the other dental problems. You should introduce the Sippy cup early on during the feeding times, but you do not have to force the baby into using the cup. When you believe the child is ready for the cup, you should let them have the cup instead of having the bottle. If your child decides to put up a fuss, then you should not force the issue any further – not this time. This means the child is not ready for the cup yet, so put the cup away and try to give them the cup again in a couple of days. Repeat the process until the baby has finally taken the cup.
